Tease-O-Rama

Tease-O-Rama, the original weekend long burlesque convention, had its start in 2001 in New Orleans.  Since then it has traveled to Los Angeles and San Francisco and has been organized by Baby Doe, Alison Fensterstock, and Alan Parowski along with a host of volunteers.

I attended my first Tease-O-Rama in San Francisco in the Fall of 2007. While I had to miss the Thursday night Meet & Greet, I did get to enjoy both the Friday and Saturday night shows at Bimbo’s 365 Club – both nights ably MC’ed by Kitten on the Keys - as well as the multiple seminars during the weekend at Café Du Nord and the Swedish American Hall and the Legend’s Panel on Sunday night at the Victoria Theatre (formerly a burlesque house known as The Follies).  The organizers were able to get Bimbo’s to relax its no-camera policy and so I arranged for a photo-pass and brought my gear.  The crowds came early and filled all the tables up front quickly so I had to photograph off the sides Friday night and from the back Saturday night. For a feel of the event, here is a subset of my photos from Friday night and Saturday night  as well as a few from the Legends’ Panel on Sunday night.

I was able to return to San Francisco for the 2007 Tease-O-Rama.  The Friday and Saturday evening performances were again held at Bimbo’s 365 Club with the Thursday night meet and greet at the Rickshaw Club. There were a number of classes on Saturday as well as a Movie Night at The Cerrito Speakeasy.  I obtained a Photo Pass and again present a subset of my photos from the Friday and Saturday night shows.

NOTE to PERFORMERS: I have tried to caption the photos as accurately as possible based on the program and my notes.  Please advise me of any errors so that I can fix them.  Note also that I have only posted a fraction of the images from the weekend; contact me if you would like to see other images of your performance.
